1. Nature of Service
Virtual design is an online-only service. The Finishing Touch provides design guidance, visual direction, sourcing support, curated product recommendations, and related deliverables based on the information submitted through the intake process and any approved follow-up communication.
This service does not include in-home installation, physical staging, furniture assembly, contractor supervision, measuring services, or on-site project management unless separately agreed to in writing.
2. Required Client Materials
Clear visual materials are required in order to create a virtual design plan. Clients are responsible for submitting accurate and helpful project information, which may include:
- photos of the space
- videos, if available
- measurements
- inspiration images or links
- budget information
- existing furniture or decor details
A phone or Zoom consultation may be offered as an additional support option, but it does not replace the need for photos and other visual reference materials.
3. Accuracy of Submitted Information
All design recommendations, product selections, and layout guidance are based on the accuracy of the information provided by the client. The Finishing Touch is not responsible for issues resulting from inaccurate dimensions, omitted room details, incomplete photos, misleading lighting, outdated product availability, or any other incomplete or incorrect submission materials.
4. Estimates, Pricing, and Approval
Any pricing shared before full project review is a ballpark estimate only. Final pricing for the design service will depend on project scope, number of spaces, sourcing needs, revisions, consultation requests, and any added support requested after review.
Product pricing, availability, shipping timelines, taxes, and retailer policies are controlled by third parties and may change at any time.
5. Product Sourcing and Purchasing
Depending on the service selected, clients may receive either:
- a design plan with curated product links for self-purchase, or
- a concierge sourcing and purchasing option in which The Finishing Touch purchases approved items on the client’s behalf.
If concierge sourcing is selected, any purchasing support, procurement fee, handling fee, administrative fee, or similar service charge will be communicated as part of the project approval process before final purchase coordination begins.
6. Shipping, Delays, and Third-Party Retailers
The Finishing Touch is not responsible for shipping delays, damage in transit, discontinued items, manufacturer defects, retailer fulfillment errors, backorders, or carrier-related delivery issues. Any such matters remain subject to the policies of the retailer, vendor, manufacturer, or shipping provider involved.
7. Revisions and Scope Changes
Revision rounds, additional room requests, extra sourcing, or other expansion of project scope may require additional fees. Any work that extends beyond the originally approved service will be treated as an add-on or revised scope and priced accordingly.
8. Design Intent and Client Implementation
Virtual design is intended to provide aesthetic and functional guidance. Final implementation is the client’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing. This includes, but is not limited to, measuring, ordering, assembling, placing, styling, hanging, installing, and coordinating any labor or contractor work required to complete the space.
9. Refunds and Digital Work Product
Because virtual design involves time, creative development, curation, and digital work product, fees for completed design work, research, sourcing, planning, and already-rendered services are non-refundable once work has begun.
10. Photography and Portfolio Use
The Finishing Touch will not use a client’s project images for marketing or portfolio purposes unless permission is granted by the client. If permission is granted, identifying or personal items will be avoided whenever reasonably possible.
11. Right to Decline or Pause Service
The Finishing Touch reserves the right to decline, pause, or discontinue a project if required materials are not provided, communication becomes inconsistent, project expectations become unreasonable, or the requested scope falls outside the service model offered.
